Russell Mainord

Russell LeRoy Mainord, 66, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Perryville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully with his two beloved dogs, Rosco and Maria, by his side Monday, Jan. 2, 2023.

Russell was the third child born to Carl Eugene and Wilma Lou Mouser Mainord on Jan. 25, 1956, in Cape Girardeau.

Throughout his life he worked in carpentry, roofing and as a cook at the Cape Girardeau Country Club. Russell above all loved spending time to make happy memories and take pictures with his family and friends. He also loved watching football and creative cooking. He enjoyed collecting a variety of stamps, coins and hot wheels, playing the drums and doing the "hand bone" dance in his youth.

Survivors include his only daughter, Jessica Canady; brother, George Mainord; and four grandchildren, Christian, Dallas, Chance and Jazzmine Riggin, all of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Mainord and his sister, Rives-Louanna Hoover.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Graveside services will be held at 2:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau. Interment will follow the graveside service at Cape County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Crain Funeral Home to assist with the cost of the funeral arrangements.
