RUSSELL E. COOMBS

Russell E. Coombs, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at the Missouri Veteran's Home. He had been a resident since February.

He was born Nov. 26, 1915 in Rhode Island, son of Herbert and Gertrude Coombs.

He worked as a field regulator in the gas/utility industry prior to his retirement.

He served with distinction in World War II in the European Theater. He is survived by a close friend, Helen McGuire of Tampa, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Post 63 at 10 a.m. Monday at Lorimier Cemetery, the Rev. John Ferguson officiating.
