Russell Dean Brantley, 55, 2873 Hopper Road, died Friday, March 11, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 17, 1939, at Portageville, son of Otis and Beulah Sherrod Brantley. He and Wanda Jones were married Aug. 11, 1959, at Caruthersville.
Brantley lived in Scott City from 1970 until moving to Cape Girardeau in 1985. He had been a letter carrier with Cape Girardeau Post Office since 1968. He was a member of National Association of Letter Carriers.
Brantley was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He received the Sikorsky Winged S rescue medal for the first night helicopter rescue at sea.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Joyce Wunderlich and Carol Brantley of Cape Girardeau, Laura Powers of Memphis, Tenn.; his mother of Hayti; four brothers, Bob Brantley of Lake Village, Ark., Wayne Brantley of Caruthersville, Gene Brantley of St. Louis, Tim Brantley of Houston, Texas; a sister, Juanita Jansen of Rogersville, and three grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. Chaplain Arthur Kelley will officiate.
There is no visitation.
