Rudolph G. "Rudy" Koerber, 93, of Jackson died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He returned to his Heavenly Father surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Cape Girardeau County, to Paul A. and Bertha Meyer Koerber. He and Alverta W. Schuette were married April 17, 1952, in Cape Girardeau County. She passed away Nov. 20, 2005...

Rudolph G. "Rudy" Koerber, 93, of Jackson died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He returned to his Heavenly Father surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

He was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Cape Girardeau County, to Paul A. and Bertha Meyer Koerber. He and Alverta W. Schuette were married April 17, 1952, in Cape Girardeau County. She passed away Nov. 20, 2005.

Rudy was a veteran of the Army Air Corps serving in World War II.

He and his wife were dairy farmers in the Gordonville area many years. Rudy enjoyed woodworking and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church at Gordonville.

Survivors include a daughter, Marsha K. Benney and husband Mike of St. Peters, Missouri; four sons, Paul "Herb" Koerber and wife Bernice of Gordonville, Richard A. Koerber and wife Susan of Jackson, Edward L. Koerber and wife Twila of Scopus, Missouri, and Mark A. Koerber and wife Susan of Gordonville; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and twin brother, Ralph "Jack" Koerber.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of service today at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

A celebration of life service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Tony Kobak officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Lutheran Church Cemetery with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be given to Christ Lutheran Church of Gordonville, Historic Hanover Lutheran Church or the Missouri Veterans Home of Cape Girardeau.
