Rudolph M. Engelmann, 85, of Egypt Mills died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born July 25, 1917, at Oak Ridge, son of John R. and Esther Cobble Engelmann. He and Verna Mills were married Aug. 3, 1940, in St. Clair, Mo. She died June 4, 1991.
Rudolph worked at Southeast Missouri State University power plant 30 years, retiring in 1979. He was a lifelong farmer in the Egypt Mills area. He was a member of First Church of God, and loved to play the guitar and listen to music.
Survivors include a son, David "Mike" Engelmann of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Carolyn Vandeven of Bella Vista, Ark.; two sisters, Lela Rubel of Egypt Mills, Virginia Dumey of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Tom Masterson Jr. of Scott City, Amy Wyatt of Chaffee, Mo.; three stepgrandchildren, Gregory Vandeven of Memphis, Tenn., Timothy Vandeven of Ponca City, Okla., Edwin Vandeven of St. Louis; five great-grandchildren; and six great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Ramsey and the Rev. Lloyd Engelmann will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
