She was born Sept. 6, 1919, in Cape Girardeau County to John Oscar and Frieda Klaus Huettig. She and Martin F. Meyer were married Nov. 14, 1937, at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. Ruby Marie Meyer, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at the home of her son in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 6, 1919, in Cape Girardeau County to John Oscar and Frieda Klaus Huettig. She and Martin F. Meyer were married Nov. 14, 1937, at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. He died May 18, 1987.

Ruby retired from J.C. Penney in 1985. She was a lifelong and the oldest member of Hanover Lutheran Church. She was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church Ladies' Aid and LWML. Ruby was a longtime church bulletin and newsletter assembler.

Survivors include a son, Richard M. (Lynnore) Meyer of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Shirley Ann Roth of Benton, Mo.; a sister, Dorothy (Harry) Bertrand of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Karen (Michael) Scherer of Benton, Becky Ann Roth of Benton, Judith (Randy) Scherer of Benton, Greg (Beverly) Meyer of St. Louis, Juli (Mark) Russell of O'Fallon, Mo., Scott (Tari) Cauble of Cape Girardeau and Christine Cauble of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 10 great-grandchildren, Amanda Scherer, Travis Scherer, Austin Roth, McKenzie Roth, Ellen Meyer, Hannah Meyer, Abigail Russell, Zachary Russell, Nick Cauble and Justin Pullin; five great-great grandchildren, Caleb, Mason, Madison, Dawson and Bentley; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother and sister-in-law, Wilbert and Delma Huettig; a niece Marilyn Mirly; a nephew Harry Bertrand Jr.; and son-in-law Shirley L. Roth.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hanover Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Burial will be at Hanover Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hanover Lutheran Church General Fund or Southeast Hospice.
