EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Ruby Irene Stokes of East Prairie will be held at 1 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel. The Rev. A.G. Hampton will officiate, with burial in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Stokes, 84, died Wednesday, June 30, 1993, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born Oct. 18, 1908, in Hickman, Ky., daughter of Albert and Dossie Jackson Scott. She and Amos A. Stokes were married May 24, 1947. He died Nov. 22, 1977.
Stokes was a member of Calvary Temple Church in Sikeston.
Survivors include a son, Virgil Stokes of Sikeston; two stepsons, Amos Stokes Jr. of California, Jerry Stokes of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four stepdaughters, Addiere Hall of Sikeston, Ora Kenway of Palo Verde, Calif., Betty Porter of St. Louis, Mary Freeman of Centralis, Wash.; a sister, Louella Holmes of East Prairie; a grandson, and several stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and a stepson.
