JACKSON -- Ruby Irene Hovis, 79, of Ste. Genevieve, died Monday, June 29, 1992, at the home of a daughter there.
She was born July 14, 1912, at Marquand, daughter of Joseph Edward and Ollie Shephard Pope. She married Clark Hovis Aug. 30, 1932.
The family moved from Jackson to the St. Louis area in 1962. She was a member of Starling Road Baptist Church in Arnold.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Layne Hovis of Pevely, Ron Hovis of Charlotte, N.C., Don Hovis of Houston, Texas, Gene Hovis of Billings, Mont.; four daughters, Sharon Connell of Piedmont, Carol McLard of Jackson, Kathryn Rhodes of St. Louis, Betty Looney of Ste. Genevieve; two sisters, Mrs. Paul Rauls of St. Louis, Mrs. Horrell Turner of Marble Hill; 21 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Heiligtag Funeral Home in Arnold from 4-9 p.m. today, and at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Larry Daniely officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
