RUBY E. LAKENAN

PERRYVILLE -- Ruby E. Lakenan, 87, of Perryville, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 1995, at Perry County Nursing Home.

She was born March 23, 1908, at Cedar Fork, daughter of Mac and Eunice Hudson Nelson. She and William K. Lakenan were married April 29, 1929. He died July 31, 1991.

Lakenan was a graduate of Perryville High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University.

She was an elementary teacher in Perry County. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and its women's group, and Perryville Ladies Golf Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Williamson of Jackson; a son, William Lakenan Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn.; three brothers, Herbert and Loy Nelson of Perryville, Fred Nelson of St. Peters; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, four sisters and three brothers.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. today, and Saturday from 6:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Grant Gillard and James Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Home Cemetery.
