PERRYVILLE -- Funeral service for Ruby Ellen Abernathy of Perryville will be held at 11 a.m. today at Young and Sons Funeral Chapel, with the Revs. Dean Edwards and Steve Berry officiating. Burial will be in Home Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:30 a.m. to service time.
Abernathy, 80, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 22, 1915, in Perry County, daughter of Edgar and Amy Dempster Farrar. She married Arlous W. Abernathy Nov. 29, 1933, in Oak Ridge.
Abernathy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; six sons, Wilfred Abernathy of Long Beach, Miss., Lester Abernathy of Holiday, Fla., Ronald Abernathy of Gordonville, Ivan Abernathy of Glendale, Calif., Gary Abernathy of St. Louis, Lynn Abernathy of Moorpark, Calif.; six daughters, Dorothy Wichern of Washington, Ark., Viola Cooper of Calimesa, Calif., Janet Hadler of Jackson, Carol Kluender of Perryville, Kathleen Gundling of Friendswood, Texas, Alice Roth of St. Marys; a sister, Evelyn Guemmer of Perryville; 29 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, brother and granddaughter.
