Ruby Bess

Ruby Pearl Bess, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 17, 1912, at Marquand, Mo., daughter of Arch and Callie Henson Matthews. She was married to Lester H. Bess May 20, 1943. He preceded her in death.

She was a retired housekeeper at Southeast Missouri State University and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a niece, Dorothy Lemmon of Tampa, Fla.

She was preceded in death by one son.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Liley Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Rhodes will officiate, with burial in Bollinger County Memorial Cemetery near Marble Hill, Mo.
