MOUNDS, Ill. -- Roy W. Staten, 69, formerly of Carbondale, Ill., died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Meridian Manor Nursing Home of Mounds.

Staten was born on Nov. 2, 1931, in Mounds, the son of Henry Midland and Eula Staten.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.

Staten is survived by two sons.

Private graveside services will be Tuesday at the U.S. National Cemetery in Mound City, Ill., with the Rev. Dave McCoy officiating. There will be no visitation.

Barkett Funeral Home of Mounds is in charge of arrangements.
