BENTON -- Roy L. Thompson, 69, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, May 13, 1992, at Still Regional Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 21, 1922, at Benton, son of Samuel B. and Mary Magdelan Brown. He first married Rose Ann Kroeger, and later married Ruthie A. Hemmel.
Thompson was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He had worked for Whitaker Distributing Co. Shenley Distributors, and retired as a salesman with Midstate Distributing Co. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Eagles.
Survivors include two daughters, Samantha Cheshire of Ashland, Kristen Thompson of Columbia; two sons, Roy Thompson of Portland, Ore., C. Kelly Thompson of Jefferson City; a stepdaughter, Shelley Borgmeyer of Jefferson City; three brothers, Harold Thompson of St. Louis, Edward Thompson of Jackson, Elbert Thompson of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two sisters, Lucille Proffer and Bessie Sneed of Chaffee, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
A memorial mass will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter's Church in Jefferson City, with the Rev. Mike Wilburs officiating.
Friends may call at the church from 1:30 p.m. until service time.
