TAMMS, Ill. -- Roy Loren Newell, 80, of Tamms, died Tuesday, April 26, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was born Feb. 28, 1914, near Tamms, son of William Edward and Carrie Illman Newell. He married the former Hazel Leona Harvell.
Newell owned Newell Dry Goods and Hardware in Ullin more than 10 years, had owned Tamms IGA, and had owned and operated Gar-Fair Trailer Park in Bradenton, Fla.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Evelyn Kee of Tamms, Lucille Welborn of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a brother, Glenn Newell of Tamms; a sister, Ruth Lessar of Tamms; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and brother.
Friends may call at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl Land officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery near Dongola.
