Roy Kopf

BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- Roy E. Kopf, 84, of Belleville, born Sept. 16, 1924, in Belleville, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Four Fountains Convalescent Center in Belleville.

Mr. Kopf retired from Steamfitters and Pipefitters Local 101. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Belleville and American Legion Belleville Post 58. Roy was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline M., nee Weis, Kopf, whom he married Feb. 10, 1946, at Zion Lutheran Church; three sons, Kent M. (Sue) Kopf of Cape Girardeau, Keith A. Kopf of Vancouver, Wash., and Kevin R. (Julie) Kopf of Belleville; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Kopf of Birmingham, Ala., Jason Kopf of Cape Girardeau and Ryan and Lena Kopf of Belleville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Mary, nee Reppel, Kopf; a brother, Robert Kopf; and two sisters, Rose Reinhardt and Jane Lovelace.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at George Renner and Sons Funeral Home in Belleville and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Belleville.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Gary Byers officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville.
