CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Roy Woodrow Johnston, 85, of Chaffee died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Chaffee Nursing Center. He was born Jan. 31, 1918, at Bell City, Mo., son of Lurena Johnston. CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Roy Woodrow Johnston, 85, of Chaffee died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Chaffee Nursing Center.

He was born Jan. 31, 1918, at Bell City, Mo., son of Lurena Johnston. He married the former Jessie Kurd.

Johnston worked in construction in the area, including several years for Potashnick. He had also worked in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church at Rockview, Mo., Operating Engineers Local 513 in St. Louis, a 32nd Degree Mason at Chaffee Masonic Lodge, and member of Grand Order of Sword of Bunker Hill 2193.

There are no survivors.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Benton, Mo., from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Marty Blakey will officiate. Burial will be in Friend Cemetery at Oran, Mo.
