Roy Paul Fischer, 75, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at his home.
He was born Aug. 3, 1924, at Caruthersville, son of Val and Augusta Gross Fischer.
He and Seairl May were married June 30, 1975, at Jackson.
He worked as a waiter at the Purple Crackle in East Cape Girardeau, Ill., the Marquette Hotel and Blue Note. He retired in 1979.
He was a member of Gospel Assembly Church.
Fischer also was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army during the Phillipines and New Guinea campaigns. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3838.
Survivors include his wife; three stepsons, Robert Haynes of McHenry, Ill., Richard Haynes of Florida and Roger Gore of Rockford, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Darlene Kay Burnett of Sacramento, Calif.; seven stepgrandchildren and 17 great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Revs. Winferd Wren and Frank Widdows officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery, with rites by VFW Post 3838.
