Roy Willard Davault, 93, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Dec. 9, 1925, near Dongola in Bollinger County, Missouri, son of Ora Edward and Mayme "Ruth" Snider Davault. He and Pauline M. McDowell were married May 22, 1949. She passed away Sept. 28, 2002. He married Janet Versemann Gross on May 10, 2012.
Roy was a 1945 graduate of Zalma (Missouri) High School.
He was a veteran of World War II, having been inducted into the U.S. Navy on Nov. 3, 1943, and honorably discharged May 22, 1946.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau, a charter member of the Jackson Jaycees and a longtime member of American Legion Post 158 in Jackson. Roy served many years on the SEMO District Fair Board and the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association.
He worked as a general contractor building homes in the Jackson area and later was owner/operator of Davault Landscaping. He was an avid bowler and gardener, but most of all, Roy was a loving husband who cherished his family.
Loving survivors include his wife, Janet Davault of Cape Girardeau; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn (the late Harold) Bollinger of Jackson, Joann (the late Jerry) McDowell of Cape Girardeau and Vicky (the late Harold) McDowell of Jackson; and several loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his first wife, Pauline Davault, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon (Genny) Davault, and a sister, Della (Stan) Reinholz.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with an American Legion service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Eric Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Fruitland, with full military honors.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association.
