Roy L. Beck, 88, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Sikeston, Missouri, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Sikeston to the late Roy M. and Ethel M. Johnson Beck. Roy and Beverly Andres were married Jan. 8, 1955, in Sikeston.
Roy graduated from Sikeston High School in 1951 and Draughn's Business College, Paducah, Kentucky, in 1953. He attended classes at Southeast Missouri State University and Central Missouri State College in Independence, Missouri.
He enlisted in the National Guard in July 1953 and received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army Reserve July 31, 1961.
Roy worked as marketing manager for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., now AT&T, for 25 years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. After retiring, Roy was engaged in insurance, real estate and private business for several years.
Roy was a charter member of Murray Lane Baptist Church in Sikeston. He was among the first deacons ordained at the church and served from 1959 to 1963. He was a member at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, where he served in numerous capacities.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beverly Beck of Cape Girardeau; daughters, Linda (Rusty) Garrett of Russellville, Arkansas, and Brenda Fisher of Hannibal, Missouri; grandchildren, Holly Garrett, Danielle (Cary) Fisher Perrin, Jennifer (Gabe) Fisher Dement, Andrew (Jaime) Fisher, Jessica Fisher; great-grandchildren, K.J., Van and Molly Perrin, Karleigh and Tucker Dement, Russell Roy Fisher; and 11 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norvell Beck, sisters, Lola Beck, Genevieve Beck, Edna King, Hazel Beck, Marzee Agee, Earline Parks; and grandchildren, Nikki, and Brittany Garrett.
Funeral will be at noon Monday at Lynwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Lynwood Baptist Church.
