SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. -- Roy Lester Barks, 83, of Sedgewickville died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Sept. 16, 1917, son of David and Emma Statler Barks. He and Mary Seabaugh were married June 1, 1951. She died Jan. 3, 1994...

SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. -- Roy Lester Barks, 83, of Sedgewickville died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 16, 1917, son of David and Emma Statler Barks. He and Mary Seabaugh were married June 1, 1951. She died Jan. 3, 1994.

Barks lived and farmed in the Sedgewickville community all his life. He was a life member of Sargent's Chapel Lutheran Church near Daisy, Mo., and a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge 441.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include a nephew, Larry R. Barks of O'Fallon, Mo.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, Mo., from 4-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Albert Nyland will officiate. Burial will be in Sargent's Chapel Church Cemetery.
