ROWENA STEPHENSON

MOUNDS, Ill. -- Rowena K. Stephenson, 86, of Mounds, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 3, 1913, in Mounds, daughter of Oscar and Roseluella Kelly Williamson.

She was married to Basil Stephenson. He preceded her in death.

She was a retired schoolteacher, having taught at Thistlewood Elementary School in Mounds for 35 years. She was a member of Congregational Church in Mounds.

Survivors include two nieces, Betty Titus of Mounds and Barbara Highsmith of Denver, Colo.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Mike Vaughn officiating.

Burial will be Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale.
