ROSIE L. SMITH

SIKESTON -- Rosie L. Smith, 90, of Sikeston, died Tuesday, May 24, 1994, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 16, 1903, in Whiting, daughter of George Washington and Sara Frances Underwood Ward. She and Luther B. Smith were married May 18, 1927.

Smith was a member of Victory Baptist Church in East Prairie.

Survivors include her husband; six sons, Luther Jr. and Travis Smith of Sikeston, Leon Smith of Cape Girardeau, Harold Smith of Las Vegas, Nev., Ernest Smith of Cadet, Truman Smith of Irondale; four daughters, Grace Pruitt of Chaffee, Louise Shaver and Carolyn Patterson of Sikeston, Flossie Shaw of Morley; a stepson, Willie Smith of Linden, Tenn.; a brother, Pete Ward of Sikeston; a sister, Elizabeth Bryant of Scott City; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren, and 11 great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and grandson.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Billie Butler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
