WILSON CITY -- Rosie Holman, 85, of Wilson City, died Monday, March 16, 1992, at the home of a daughter, Ruthie Sanders, in Chicago, following an extended illness. She was born May 7, 1906, in Marvell, Ark., daughter of the Rev. A.J. and Mattie Sparks. She married Abraham Holman Feb. 14, 1925. He died Oct. 17, 1973...

WILSON CITY -- Rosie Holman, 85, of Wilson City, died Monday, March 16, 1992, at the home of a daughter, Ruthie Sanders, in Chicago, following an extended illness.

She was born May 7, 1906, in Marvell, Ark., daughter of the Rev. A.J. and Mattie Sparks. She married Abraham Holman Feb. 14, 1925. He died Oct. 17, 1973.

Holman was a member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ Fellowship at Wyatt, had served on its Mother's Board, and had been a Sunday School teacher and prayer and Bible band leader.

Survivors include four sons, Elder Holman of Akron, Ohio, Elijah Holman of Cleveland, Ohio, Adam Holman of Ashtabula, Ohio, Abraham Holman Jr. of Oxon Hill, Md.; four daughters, Ruthie Sanders and Doris Richardson of Chicago, Bessie Osborne of Ashtabula, Elizabeth Moore of Cleveland; two brothers, Aaron Sparks of California, O.W. Sparks of Marvell; 24 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four infant children.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Haven Church of God in Christ here. Elder Lemmie Pulliam will officiate, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.

Sparks Funeral Home at Charleston is in charge of arrangements. There is no visitation.
