Rosemund Alene Welker, 89, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Monticello House. Rosemund Alene Welker, 89, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Monticello House.

Born on Sept. 18, 1934, in Tilsit to Heinrich Karl "Martin" and Alma Caroline Macke Fluegge, Rosemund was the second youngest of 11 children. She and Oscar Gerald Welker were married Dec. 16, 1955, and had five children: Debbie, Ricky, Lisa, Cindy and Tim.

Rosemund was a homemaker and took joy in caring for her family and pets. She effortlessly filled the table with home-cooked meals and enjoyed creating special quilts as gifts for loved ones. She had a green thumb and kept busy tending to her flowers and gardens.

For many years, Rosemund and her husband operated Oscar Welker and Sons Trucking and Excavating. She attended school in Jackson and was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Loving survivors include four children, Debbie (Steve) Hartwig, Ricky (Belinda) Welker, Lisa (Jeff) Nagel and Tim (Michelle) Welker, all of Jackson; son-in-law, Joe (the late Cindy) Burger of Delta; seven grandchildren, Gabe and Josh Hartwig, Alison (Zack) Kelley, Kohl and Audrey Welker, Chris (Maggie) Wren and Alisha Heise; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Esther Davis and Janice (Carl) Newell.

Rosemund was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Oscar; daughter, Cindy; five brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Interment will follow at Old Salem Cemetery near Millersville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Old Salem Cemetery or Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary in Jackson.
