BREESE, Ill. -- Rose Mary Seyer Elfrink, 80, of Breese, formerly of Cahokia, Illinois, passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at Breese Nursing Home.
She was born March 2, 1935, in Chaffee, Missouri, to Fred and Alvina Louise Ziegler Seyer.
Mrs. Elfrink was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and former member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, both of Cahokia. She was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Mother's Club and Kitchen Band.
She volunteered for the Salvation Army after the flood of 1993, St. Catherine's Library, Jefferson Barracks V.A. Medical Center and Day Star in Cairo, Illinois. Rose Mary provided and wrapped Christmas and birthday presents for residents at Briarcliff Nursing Home. She donated quilt blocks for two different churches and participated in the "Box Project" to help needy families.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Anthony "Tony" Elfrink; her seven children, Becky Elfrink of Fenton, Missouri, Joan (Jim) Young of Germantown, Illinois, Stan (Tracy) Elfrink of Dexter, Missouri, Brenda Elfrink of St. Louis, Carl Elfrink of Breese, Pat Elfrink of Cape Girardeau and Alan Elfrink of Belleville, Illinois; three brothers, Marcus (Virginia) Seyer of Chaffee, Robert (Anne) Seyer of St. Louis and Arthur Seyer of Arnold, Missouri; a sister, Betty (Ernest) Glastetter of Oran, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Connie (Patrick), Eddie, Ben, Anthony, Sarah (Willie), Matt and Melanie; and a great-grandson, Luke.
She was a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Bette Seyer.
Funeral procession to leave at 9:15 a.m. today from Braun Colonial Funeral Home to Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia for 9:30 a.m. Mass. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Breese Nursing Home or in the form of Masses.
