CAIRO, Ill. -- Rose Marie Klein, 89, of Cairo died at 4 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at her home.
She was born Aug. 4, 1927, in Cairo, the daughter of John Albert Sr. and OT Mansfield Spies. She married John R. Klein Sr. on Feb. 3, 1951; he preceded her in death July 15, 1975.
Rose Marie retired as a bookkeeper in the family business, Klein's What-A-Burger, also at First Southern Baptist Church and First State Bank and Trust Co.
She loved to crochet, knit and play cards and bingo. She was a lifetime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Altar Guild and Daughters of Isabella. She also was an active member of LutherAnns, VFW Auxiliary and a supporter of Deana's Dance Studio.
She is survived by her sons, John (Anne) Klein of Kirkwood, Missouri, Steve (Elaine) Klein of Stafford, Virginia, Larry (Ruthy) Klein of Cairo, Greg (Lori) Klein of Jonesboro, Illinois, and Mark (Torrie) Klein of Ripley, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Becky (Stan) Vaughn of Union City, Tennessee; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Rose Marie was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Jimmy Klein in 2001; daughter, Mary Anita Klein in 1956; brothers, Charles, Jimmy and John Albert Spies Jr.; and sisters, Ann Simpson and Loretta Hutton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m., and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, All Saint's Day, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo in the upstairs sanctuary, with Father Chris Mujule officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
