Rose Mae Abernathy, 81, of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, June 5, 1991, at LaCroix Nursing Center. She was born May 28, 1910, at Commerce, daughter of Ira and Rosa Butler Wright. She married Charles Leo Abernathy June 16, 1932. He died April 19, 1960...

Rose Mae Abernathy, 81, of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, June 5, 1991, at LaCroix Nursing Center.

She was born May 28, 1910, at Commerce, daughter of Ira and Rosa Butler Wright. She married Charles Leo Abernathy June 16, 1932. He died April 19, 1960.

Abernathy was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church at Commerce.

Survivors include four sons, Charles and William Abernathy of Chester, Ill., Robert Abernathy of Cape Girardeau, Larry Abernathy of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Doris Christy of Scott City, Virginia Hodges of Oran; a sister, Irene Gearing of Scott City; 17 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. William Dickey will officiate, with burial in Oakdale Cemetery at Commerce.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.
