Rosalind Justus Vogel, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at her home.

She was born May 19, 1920, at Hendersonville, N.C., the daughter of Troy and Edith Justus.

Vogel graduated from Hendersonville High School and from Chillicothe Business College and was employed by the U.S. Department of Justice in several cities in North Carolina. She was eventually employed by the FBI in Charlotte, N.C. where she met FBI Special Agent Raymond H. Vogel. They married Sept. 6, 1942. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2002.

Vogel is survived by her husband; two sons, John Vogel of Seattle, Wash. and Raymond H. Vogel Jr. of Durham, N.C.; a daughter, Martha Vogel Applestein of North Bethesda, Md.; three grandchildren; and four sisters.

Vogel was employed part-time in her husband's law office and did volunteer service for the Girl Scouts and the Cape Girardeau Police Department. In 1971 and 1972 she served as a deputy circuit clerk for Cape Girardeau County. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau and served on the board of directors of the University Lutheran Chapel of Hope.

Memorial service is at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Private entombment will be at the Cape Girardeau County Memorial Park.
