Ronald K. "Ike" Carlton, 62, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Aug. 9, 1945, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Lloyd W. and Juanita L. (Johnson) Carlton. He and Deborah S. (Wilson) Carlton were married on April 6, 1973, in Cape Girardeau.
He graduated from Central High School in 1964 and received a bachelor's degree from Tarkio College in Northwestern Missouri.
Carlton served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and retired from the Missouri National Guard as Master Sgt. after 28 yrs.
He worked for Cape County Bank, Capital Bank and Union Planters Bank. Later he was full time with the Missouri National Guard for 7 years, retiring in August of 2005. He then worked for Alliance Bank in Cape Girar-deau.
Carlton was a member of First General Baptist Church and president of Cape Girardeau Library Board and Elk's Lodge. He was a member of the San Dangaro Porkers barbecue team
He is survived by his wife; a son, Derrick G. Carlton and wife Windy of Jackson; a daughter, Chari Rothrock and husband Joshua of Lexington, Ky.; a sister, Mary Ann Clarke and husband Brian of Columbia, S.C.; and three grandchildren, Ian Rothrock, Alexander Carlton and Elizabeth Carlton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother, Michael W. Carlton.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Ramdial officiating.
Burial will be at Fairmont Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.
Memorials may be made to First General Baptist Church or Barnes-Jewish Hospital Leukemia Research. Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
