FROHNA, Mo. -- E. Roland Winter, 90, of Frohna died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 27, 1924, in Frohna, son of Paul G.G. and Johanna Schuessler Winter. He and Leonora T. Steffens were married May 24, 1947. She preceded him in death Feb. 14, 2010.

Roland was self-employed with Fischer & Winter Store. He was the sole owner of Frohna General Market, school bus driver for Meyer Bus Line in Perryville, and plant manager for MFA Bulk Plant in Altenburg, Missouri. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where he served as usher, secretary, treasurer and financial secretary until his retirement. He was a member of its choir and men's club, among other duties. He was secretary/treasurer with Frohna Telephone Association from 1957 to 1963, before Southwestern Bell took over, and a member of AAL (Thrivent) 41 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Maxine (Bruce) Lorenz of Jackson; a grandchild, Chris Lorenz of Jackson; and a cousin-in-law, Josephine Schuessler of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Raymond and Herbert; and a sister, Renata.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna, with the Rev. Rod Benkendorf officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Concordia Lutheran Church.
