CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Roger Duane Moore, 51, of Chaffee died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau from complications of ALS.
He was born May 23, 1963, in Cape Girardeau, to Garnett Elwood and Melba Joyce Slinkard Moore.
Roger graduated from Delta High School and from Mid-America College of Funeral Science in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He had worked for Carpenter Mortuary Service in Jackson several years, helped in the Cape Girardeau County coroner's office under John Carpenter, and was a trade embalmer at several funeral homes in Southeast Missouri over the years.
His greatest joy was when he opened the Round About Bar and Grill in Blomeyer Junction. There he was home. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau and the War Child Riding Group.
Survivors include his mother, Joyce Moore of Chaffee; two brothers, Stanley and Walter Moore of Chaffee; two nephews, Daniel and Zachary Moore; and a brother-in-law, Randall Smith of Kirksville, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his father, Garnett; and a sister, Rebecca Smith.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Allen Saunders officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
