BIEHLE, Mo. -- James "Roger" Meyer, 80, of Biehle died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 6, 1935, in Perryville, Missouri, the son of Elmer and Matilda Wibbenmeyer Meyer. He and Gladys Laurentius were married Oct. 3, 1959. She preceded him in death March 14, 1999.
Roger worked at International Shoe Co. for 36 years and at Gilster-Mary Lee for 10 years. He was a member of St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle. He was a cook for the Perryville National Guard.
Survivors include a son and a daughter, Randy (Lucy) Meyer of Biehle and Connie (Curt) Vernon of Perryville; four grandchildren, Leah (Steven) Ford, Lauren Meyer and Dylan and Desiree Vernon; and two great-grandchildren, Haylee and Levi Ford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, twin John "Richard" and Clarence Bobby Meyer; and a sister, Patricia Mangels.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9:15 a.m. today at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville, with recitation of the rosary at 8:30 a.m.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Maurus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jim French officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred for Masses.
