SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. -- Roger Gene Dailey, 57, reached the end of his journey Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at his home near Sedgewickville. As he wished, he was surrounded by special family and friends.
He began his journey July 29, 1956, in Bonne Terre, Mo., the son of James L. and Wilma A. Cook Dailey. His mother preceded him to her destination in April 2003.
It is only proper that Roger begin his eternal life on the first day of a new hunting season. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and passed that enjoyment along to his only grandson, Landon Dailey.
Roger was very proud of his two sons, Cory and Travis Dailey. He always wanted a little girl, and God blessed him with two beautiful granddaughters, Addyson and Allyson Dailey.
He began his amazing family April 3, 1976, when he married Connie Beakley. Together in Scopus, Mo., they raised their sons and enjoyed their grandchildren.
Roger worked for SEMO Ready Mix until illness forced him to retire. Roger loved his job, but this gave him more time for fishing and hunting with his best friend, John Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Dailey of Sedgewickville; two sons, Cory Dailey (Samantha Smith) and Travis Dailey of Sedgewickville; three grandchildren, Landon, Addyson and Allyson Dailey; two sisters, Suzie (Robert) Lukefahr and Dena (Bruce) Mouser of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Richard Norris of St. Louis; father, James L. (Bettie) Dailey of Marble Hill, Mo.; a brother, Randy Dailey of Marquand, Mo.; nieces and nephews, Jill (Terry) Lukefahr Farrar, Juli (Mike) Grindstaff Waller, Jason (Nacole) Lukefahr, Josh (Amanda) Lukefahr, Tim (Amy) Grindstaff, Erica Lusk, Neva Dailey and Lucas (Cathy) Dailey; and many, many friends.
He was preceded in rest by his mother, Wilma Dailey; mother- and father-in-law, Margie and Larry Beakley; and a sister-in-law, Glenna Norris.
Friends may pay tribute to Roger from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill.
A celebration of Roger's life will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Pulliam Cemetery at Marble Hill.
