JACKSON, Mo. -- Rodney James VanGennip, 37, of Jackson died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Festus, Mo.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Revs. Mike Huffman and Barry Winders will officiate. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Cemetery near Marble Hill, Mo.
Rodney was born Sept. 6, 1963, in Cape Girardeau, son of James "Jim" and Janet Hansen VanGennip. Both parents survive.
Other survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Charles "Chuck" and Brenda VanGennip of Jackson; a half brother, Scott VanGennip of Jackson; a stepbrother, Greg Collins and wife, Pam, of Jackson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Cheryl VanGennip Hoston of Jackson and Rhonda VanGennip McClanahan and husband, DeWayne, of Jackson; a half sister, Jamey VanGennip Bowers and husband, Michael, of Cape Girardeau; two nieces, Heather VanGennip and Jessica Hoston; two nephews, Jerrod and Kendal Hoston; maternal grandmother, Geneva Hansen of Jackson; paternal grandmother, Mildred VanGennip of Advance, Mo.; and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
An infant sister and two grandfathers preceded Rodney in death.
Rodney was a 1982 graduate of Jackson High School. He had worked for Pure Ice Co. in Cape Girardeau and the former Midway Dairy in Jackson. For the past 15 years, he worked for the former Chuck E. Cheese and Show-Biz Pizza in Cape Girardeau. He was forced to quit due to his health in 1998.
He attended First General Baptist Church in Jackson.
