MOREHOUSE, Mo. -- Rodney Leon Shell, 60, of Morehouse died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at his home. He was born Nov. 2, 1952, in Cape Girardeau, to Leon Albert Shell and Kathryn Proffer Shell Alcorn. Rodney had been employed by Associated Electric, and then eight years at Fox Haven Country Club in Sikeston, Mo., until ill health forced his retirement. ...

MOREHOUSE, Mo. -- Rodney Leon Shell, 60, of Morehouse died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at his home.

He was born Nov. 2, 1952, in Cape Girardeau, to Leon Albert Shell and Kathryn Proffer Shell Alcorn.

Rodney had been employed by Associated Electric, and then eight years at Fox Haven Country Club in Sikeston, Mo., until ill health forced his retirement. He was a member of Sikeston Eagles Aerie 3319 and Fox Haven Country Club. An avid golfer, he was previously a PGA instructor in Palm Beach, Fla. He was of Methodist belief.

Survivors include his wife and best friend of 24 years, Gloria Flowers Shell of the home; his mother, Kathryn Alcorn of Sikeston; a son and daughter-in-law, Justin Leon and Amy Shell of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert Wayne and Dottie Shell of Bowling Green, Ky.; a stepbrother and his wife, Kent and Phyllis Wells of Jackson; a stepsister and her husband, Lisa and Jay Santi of Marble Hill, Mo.; and three granddaughters, Addison, Kennedy and Ella Shell.

He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Leon and Maxine Shell.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

A memorial service will be at noon Friday at the chapel. Stan Hargis, a Southeast Hospice chaplain, will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
