Grand Chain, Ill. -- Rodney George Britt, 59, of Grand Chain died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 10:15 a.m. at Marble Hill.
Mr. Britt was a member of the Center Methodist Church at Villa Ridge, Ill. He retired in 2002 from the CMS State of Illinois where he was a Mechanical Engineer. Mr. Britt had served in the U.S. Navy Seabees as a Sr. Chief during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Britt was a member of the Grand Chain Masonic Lodge 660 where he had served as Past Master. He was a member of VFW of Mounds, Ill.; the American Legion Post 178 at Villa Ridge where he held the office of Treasurer.
Mr. Britt graduated from SIU VTI with an associates degree in technology.
Mr. Britt was a member of the AINAID Temple and York Rites of Metropolis, Ill. He was also a member of the Harley Ownership Group of the Paducah, Ky., and Marion, Ill., chapters.
Mr. Britt is survived by his wife, Ida Masterson Britt, of Grand Chain; three daughters, Deborah and husband Jason Ellis of Grand Tower, Ill., Ida Marie Noyes of Highland, Ill., Lorit Kaye and husband Anthony Jones of Grand Chain, Ill.; one son, Matthew Rodney Britt of Grand Chain, Ill. He is also survived by his parents, George A. and Grace Schultz Britt, of Olmstead, Ill.; one sister, Teresa and husband Dean Inman of Charlottesville, Va.; one brother, James F. and wife Darsi of Dawson Springs, Ky.; four grandchildren, Jayden and Lukas Ellis, Kinnedy Noyes and Paul Jones.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday afternoon, April 29, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak, Ill., with the Rev. Jessie McPherson officiating. Pallbearers will be NMCB 15; DET. 09 of Cape Girardeau. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery, Olmstead, Ill.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 7 p.m.
