SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. -- Rodger Scott Long, 44, of Sedgewickville entered into rest Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 21, 1973, in Chaffee, Missouri, son of Leo "Muck" Wilson and Mildred I. Douglas Long.
Rodger was a 1992 graduate of Meadow Heights School in Patton, Missouri. He had worked several rodeos, at Fruitland Livestock Sale Barn, Schoen Dairy Farm and with the Missouri Men of Action. He was a member of the Altenburg Social Club and Cape County Cowboy Church in Oak Ridge.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred Long of Sedgewickville; brothers, David (Laura) Long of Friedheim and Bradley (Alice) Long of Patton; sisters, Kathryn (Floyd) Mayfield of Marble Hill, Missouri, Pauline O'Dell of Patton, Wanda Howard of Marble Hill and Valerie (Boo) Luttrull of Marble Hill; great-nephew, Weston "Little Man" Long of Fredericktown, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends. Rodger loved everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his father; brothers, Donald Leo, Kenneth and Steven Long; and sister, P. Dian Long.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Terry Douglas and the Rev. Kevin Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Pulliam Cemetery near Patton.
