Roby William Hitt, 81, of Scott City died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Advance, Mo., son of Grover B. and Esther Snider Hitt. He and Vernetta Maxine "Babe" Vaughan were married Jan. 26, 1947.
Hitt was a farmer and an independent truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church in Scott City and the VFW Post 6407 in Scott City.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve Hitt of Scott City and Mike Hitt of Searcy, Ark.; a brother, Paul Hitt of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Marie Stalon of Cape Girardeau and Myrtle Reed of Wood River, Ill.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Jim Norris will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
