EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Roberta Lea Hunter of East Prairie will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. The Rev. Jerry Willer will officiate, with burial in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Hunter, 69, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, following an extended illness.

She was born Feb. 2, 1928, in East Prairie, daughter of Ezra Otto and Gladys Presson Conn. She and Robert H. Hunter were married Sept. 15, 1946.

Hunter taught in several rural schools in Mississippi County, then was an art teacher 17 years and high school counselor 13 years at East Prairie R-2 Schools.

She was a member of Junior Civic Club, Women's Improvement Club, Art Fraternity of Southeast Missouri State University, board member of Southeast Missouri Mental Health. Hunter was a past president of East Prairie Teachers Association, and past president of Southeast Missouri Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Kenton Hunter of Littleton, Colo.; her mother, Gladys Lippmann of East Prairie; a sister, Charlene Davis of East Prairie; and two granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by a twin son and daughter.
