Robert "Bobby" David Wunderlich, 34, of St. Louis died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at his home.

Bobby dated and married his high-school sweetheart, Carrie Eller. They were married June 7, 2003, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

As a young boy, Bobby enjoyed playing with G.I. Joes, Legos and Hot Wheels. He loved his bicycle, but took it apart and put it back together more than he rode it.

As he grew up, he became involved in sports. He loved baseball and was also an amazing soccer player. He also developed an interest in racing cars. At 14, he traveled to Europe to play baseball with the USA Athletes International Team, playing games in the Netherlands and Belgium. He also played on a traveling soccer club team. He and a good friend enjoyed many hours working on their dirt track car.

He attended Cape Girardeau Central High School, where he played baseball and football and wrestled. After high school, Bobby attended Wyotech Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyoming, and School of Automotive Machinists & Technology in Houston to fulfill his dream of becoming a race-car mechanic.

After years of traveling throughout the country working with racing teams, Bobby attended the Athens, Georgia, Police Academy and worked as a sheriff's deputy. After moving closer to home, St. Louis, he was employed at BigFoot/Monster Truck and currently at Kienstra Ready-Mix Concrete Co.
