Robert Wayne Wolfenkoehler, 75, of Jackson passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2024.
Robert was born July 15, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Dewey and Lillian Yancey Wolfenkoehler. He and Debra Becker were married July 12, 1975, in Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death Sept. 3, 2007.
Robert was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was an active member in Jackson Elks Lodge No. 2652. He was a vice president of SEMO Military Vehicles Group. He also collected and restored military memorabilia.
He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in education. He spent most of his teaching career in McClure, Illinois, teaching special education. He was passionate about horses and teaching children to ride.
Robert was in declining health for years due to exposure to Agent Orange. He was a friend to many and will be missed.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Brandie Wolfenkoehler of Fruitland; two grandsons, Casey Lands of Marble Hill and Alex Peterson of Fruitland; and numerous cousins.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with an Elks service at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 12, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship or Missouri Veterans Home.
