BELL CITY, Mo. -- Robert "Bob" Whittenburg, 92, of Bell City passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. BELL CITY, Mo. -- Robert "Bob" Whittenburg, 92, of Bell City passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 21, 1920, at Zalma, Mo., to Lawrence Venit and Effie Ritchey Whittenburg.

Bob was a retired farmer and worked for many years at Mirley Implement Co. in Advance, Mo. He was a member of Bell City United Methodist Church and a 32nd Degree Mason.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

Bob and Marguerite Stilts were married March 23, 1946, in Paducah, Ky. She preceded him in death May 17, 1972. He later married Patsy Rendleman on Oct. 26, 1973. She preceded him in death March 13, 2000.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Whittenburg (Cheryl) of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a daughter, Janice Keckritz (Mike) of Bloomington, Ill.; three stepsons, Robert Lee Rendleman (Janeen) of Bell City, Lewis Rendleman of Kansas City, Mo., George Rendleman (JoAnn) of Scott City; a stepdaughter, Barbara Nolte (Paul) of Higginsville, Mo.; a special nephew, Kenneth Whittenburg of Aurora, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel, with the Rev. Jimmy Corbin officiating. Masonic rites will be given 15 minutes before the service begins. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance, with full military rites.
