BERNIE -- Robert Lee White Sr., 88, of Bernie died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter.
He was born May 8, 1911, at Townley, son of James Edward and Ida Florida White. He and Myrtle Juanita Thurston were married May 7, 1932, at Bernie. She died Sept. 8, 1993.
He was a bus driver for the Bernie school system before his retirement and attended the Bernie Missionary Alliance Church.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Lee "Sonny" White Jr. of Birchtree and Jerry Eugene White of Bernie; a half-brother, James White of New Athens, Ill.; four half-sisters, Janette Stone and Sally Botts, both of Bernie, Shirley Causey of Malden and Delores Cooper of Chicago; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and a half-sister.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey Funeral Home.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bernie Cemetery.
