Robert Edward Tyler, 78, son of the late Ernest Clayton and Jennie Christina Sanders Tyler, was born Sept. 28, 1943, in Fornfelt and departed this life Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Robert was a communications technician for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 33 1/2 years. Following retirement, Bob secured his Amateur Softball Association umpire's card and a Missouri State High School Activities Association license, umpiring softball and some baseball in the area for 15 years.

On Aug. 11, 1963, he married Glennetta Sue Burns in Scott City. She preceded him in death June 17, 2020.

Robert is survived by a son, Robert Keith (Teiffney) Tyler of Sikeston, Missouri; brother, Michael (Glyndia) Tyler of Columbus, Mississippi; two granddaughters, Amber (Nicholas Heeb) Tyler of Cape Girardeau and Ashlei Tyler of Sikeston.

Apart from his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brother, Thomas and Jim Tyler, and two sisters, Ada Hill and Mary Alice Tyler.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Revs. Gary Brothers and Randy Morse officiating. Burial will follow at the Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
