SIKESTON, Mo. -- Charles Robert Stearnes, 67, of Sikeston died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at his home.
He was born March 14, 1936, in Sikeston to Charles and Helen Stearnes. On June 24, 1956, he married Joan Hill, who preceded him in death on Jan. 2, 2000.
He was an architect who founded Robert Stearnes Associates in 1982, a member of First United Methodist Church and its administrative board, was mayor of Sikeston in 1985 and served on various other city and chamber of commerce boards. He was selected man of the year in 1982.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Alan Stearnes of Cape Girardeau and Charles David Stearnes of Houston, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Koch officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
