Visitation for Robert L. Smith, 83, of Cape Girardeau will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville, with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating. Burial will be in Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro, Ill.
Smith died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1919, at Murphysboro, son of Robert and Leeta Lilley Smith. He and Emma Wessel were married in 1938.
He served in the U.S. Maritime Service during World War II. He retired in 1982 from the University of Missouri-Rolla after 22 years. He and his wife moved to Boulder, Colo., in 1997.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of Boulder; two daughters, Joyce Gibson of Fayette, Mo., and Karen Apprill of Boulder; a son, Richard L. Smith of Holland, Mich.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
