Robert J. Sander, 67, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Services.
He was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Cape Girardeau, son of Henry W. and Emma Neumeyer Sander. He and Mary H. Cotner were married Sept. 23, 1950, in Piggott, Ark. She died Dec. 4, 1993.
Sander retired following 20 years as a postal clerk. He was a member of Red Star Baptist Church. He served in the National Guard.
Survivors include a son, David Sander of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Vernon Sander of Cape Girardeau, Ivan Sander of Columbia, Charles Sander of Rochester, N.Y.; two sisters, Betty Statler and Martha Sanderson of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Revs. Jerry Statler and James Sanderson officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
