Mr. Robert "Bob" Renne, 86, of Gordonville passed away peacefully late Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau after a long struggle with illness.
He was born Aug. 11, 1929, near Gordonville, the son of Joseph and Helen Siemers Renne. He and Betty Gerecke were married Feb. 15, 1958.
Bob was a lifelong resident, farmer and carpenter of the Gordonville area. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Gordonville and served in numerous roles in the church over the years. Bob was known affectionately as "Pop" to his family. He will be remembered best on his blue Ford tractor, plowing, planting and making hay and watching over his livestock. He taught his family to appreciate farm life. Pop loved his family, his farm and his cattle. He enjoyed the simple things in life: cherry pie, a Sunday nap, watching "Hee Haw" and a daily toothpick.
Loving survivors include his wife, Betty, of 58 years; a son, Mark (Cheryl) Renne of Foristell, Missouri; two daughters, Robin (David) Lukefahr of Kirksville, Missouri, and Janet (Bret) Brazda of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; a brother, John (Mary) Renne of Gordonville; nine grandchildren, Andrew (Karen) Lukefahr, Abbey and Aaron Lukefahr, Jacob (Jamie) Brazda, Jordan (Will) Skaggs, Jayden Brazda and Kyle, Eric and Logan Renne; and a great-grandchild expected in June.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Donald "Huck" Renne.
Friends may call from noon until service time Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Mike Gallagher officiating. Interment will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Gordonville.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Christ Lutheran Church or Cemetery.
