Robert D. Reed, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center. He was born Nov. 10, 1935, in Cape Girardeau to Frank and Yvetta Hunt Reed. He and Betty J. Asbridge were married Jan. 23, 1954, in Cape Girardeau. Robert worked for the Erlbacher family at Missouri Dry Dock. Robert D. Reed, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 10, 1935, in Cape Girardeau to Frank and Yvetta Hunt Reed. He and Betty J. Asbridge were married Jan. 23, 1954, in Cape Girardeau.

Robert worked for the Erlbacher family at Missouri Dry Dock. He then went to work at Missouri Utilities, until it was bought out by Union Electric. He went to work for Ameren after it bought out Union Electric.

Survivors include his wife; son, Mike (Pat) Reed of Jackson; daughter, Kim (Kenny) Dohogne of Delta; sister, Frankie Clippard of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Stephen (Sarah) Reed of Cape Girardeau, Phillip (Madelyn) Reed of Fruitland, Chris Reed of Kansas City, Missouri, Jeremey (Mallory) Dohogne of Chaffee, Missouri, Andrea (Jim) Ritter of Cape Girardeau and Kristan (Allen) Seabaugh of Oran, Missouri; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, a son, brother and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Friday, March 10, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Darren Henderson officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
