CAIRO, Ill. -- Robert W. Porter Jr., 82, of Cairo died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at Daystar Care Center.
He was born July 30, 1921, in Cairo, son of Robert and Emma Caldwell Porter. He married Edna Clancy.
Porter retired as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Cairo. He was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a stepdaughter, Patricia Pace of Heidelberg, Germany; a half sister, Dorothy Anderson of Wickliffe, Ky.; two half brothers, Elliott Wallace of Kevil, Ky., Thomas Wallace of Wickliffe; and two stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call today at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo from 10 a.m. until time of service.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard Pigg officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge, Ill.
